Why are babies terrified of grass

The internet just loves watching babies avoid touching grass (poor babies, because they are really terrified).

But why? 🤷‍♀️

The reason is actually very simple … Grass 🌱 can cause a baby to experience sensory overload. With other words: the feeling of grass can be rough, wet 💦, it tickles!

It’s just too much and their baby brain 🧠 is overwhelmed by all these senses.

However that’s not the biggest reason why babies don’t like grass …

A Yale study 📚 👩‍⚕️ in 2014 looked at babies’ responses to different objects. Researchers found that when babies were introduced to 🌼🌿🌻 plants, they took longer to decide to touch them when compared to other objects.

So why is that?

Results out of this study showed that certain diseases that are common in the 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 family, children can be “more” sensitive too.

That is to say that babies’ wariness of plants is natural behavior meant to keep them from getting poisoned. In other words it’s actually “Mother Nature” that is playing an important role in this behavior.

In that it is saying the 🌍 world is full of plants that can be ☣️ toxic.

Let’s admit, our babies are just very smart and careful! 👶🧠

Is or was your baby afraid of grass too?
